New year. New resolutions. New goals. New blog

Once again this little rock we live upon has completed a full revolution around the Sun.

As the New Year offers a blank slate, its an opportunity to start fresh and (perhaps this time) get things right. When we set New Year’s resolutions, we are utilizing a very important concept called self-efficacy, which means that by virtue of aspiring to a goal and following through on it, I have a sense of control over what’s happening in my life

Here my goals for this year:

1. Move to Lincolnshire#

We have already sold our house in Milton Keynes and some boxes have just been delivered to pack our things away. We have found a really good school that is perfect for Master R, but we haven’t yet found a place to live. Why are are moving? So we can be closer to Mrs R’s family. We’ve all really missed having them nearby for the past few years, and Milton Keynes isn’t exactly special.

2. Take more Photos#

I have a small fair collection of old film camera, and a mini-fridge full of film. i need to take more photos, and maybe I’ll get good at it. I’d love to have some of my own ‘art’ around the house.

3. Blog more#

Which is my I have a new website. I’m not a very good writer. I cannot touch type, my english isn’t good and my spelling is horrific. But I do find that, when I make the effort, its actually quite cathartic. Most of my writing will be around software engineering, because thats what I do, and I like to share what I learn. If we’re lucky, some personal things my sneak in hear too

4. Loose some weight#

I’ve always been “cuddly” (as Mrs R diplomatically puts it), but since the pandemic my t-shirt size has gone up an X or two. I don’t smoke, I drink little, but I do love to eat and I have a sweet tooth. Since the pandemic I work in the loft most days, so the most exercise I do every day is walking Rocky for 20-30 mins. This needs to change.
